Salmon Roller Coaster

It seems like the Salmon fishing this late August/ early September has been like a roller coaster. With very few Salmon, then a whole bunch of Salmon, then virtually no Salmon, it is so hard to give people a good idea of what to expect on their fishing day!  The guides try so hard, but they get frustrated when there aren't any Salmon around to be caught! I just keep reminding them that next year is less that 365 days away and it was a banner record year for Sockeye Salmon in 2010 and should prove to be just as amazing in 2013! Not to mention it is a pink year. Those poor sturgeon are going to be neglected in 2013 with all the Salmon action!

For the immediate, until the Coho get here in bigger numbers and the Chum run gets a bit stronger in October we've got Sturgeon, AND I am so GLAD we've got sturgeon!
There are very few anglers that come that aren't amazed and completely blown away by these fish. And if someone says "phooey! Sturgeon!" to me, they've usually never fished for them, or they only fish for meat (which is weird to me because fishing is fun?!).

This fish caught this morning makes me so happy-it means that the conservation program works!

And then this fall beauty from this morning. I love the early morning fall colours!

I don't think this post really has a story or theme, other than to express A) my frustration with this years Sockeye Run and B) My excitement for next years Sockeye Run.

HAPPY STURGEON FISHING!
We've got space available midweek, and some weekend spots left- let us know if you'd like to get out and enjoy the Sturgeon fishing!
