So I actually got to go Sturgeon fishing yesterday. Not sure what was going on but there was NOBODY on the water out of Mission. It made for a nice day for us, I show up in my massive rain pants and hiking boots with about ten shirts on and a rain jacket. Once we left the ramp, it was surprisingly warm and the wind was left behind. It did pour almost the entire morning BUT it's dry under cover!
10 fish, somewhere between 3 and 4 hours, not too bad. My hook setting skills were 50/50, that's because I only hit two fish. I was reminded that I don't like fighting the big ones. I was also reminded that I don't like staying out longer than 4 hours.
I discovered the most amazing thing on the boat: a blanket. My mother in-law is a genius. It makes going pee in a bucket while on the boat for a lady, a piece of cake. NOW i know what to answer to people when they ask if the boat has a "head", I always tell the ladies there are bushes, now I can just say- bring a blanket! There's NO need to interrupt the fishing! Oh the things I have learned!
All in all I had an amazing day out on the water with my new family! Here is only one picture that I had on my phone. Sorry, the rest were on my camera!
This guy was only about 60 cms if I recall correctly. I don't think our biggest was over 5 feet, but that's perfect, it meant we didn't have to go to shore!
