Well, the holiday season is past, the new year has been rung in, and we are still fishing!
The year has started off well for all of us at BCSFG - and we want to thank each of you for your continued support and enthusiasm last year. We are looking forward to a busy season, with our schedule already filling up. It is a pink salmon year, meaning that we will hopefully see much more consistent fishing throughout the later summer and fall. I know we've mentioned this a few times, but what can I say, I'm excited!
Our guides have been less busy than they are in the spring, summer and fall, but that doesn't mean that they aren't fishing! Or that fishing isn't good. A few of the guides and their friends were out on the river last Thursday and landed this awesome 7'2" fish:
If you've never tried winter fishing on the Fraser, you should. We have had a spectacular run of weather, and I know I for one have been trying to take full advantage of it. Our boats are all heated and covered, and with a few layers of warm clothes, the days have been fantastic. Plus, the crowds of anglers tend to dissipate during the winter months, making it easy to grab a prime fishing spot for the day.
If cold weather isn't your thing, here's a photo to remind you of some of our warm weather success from last year:
Our client, Jason, sent this photo in to us just last week. The fish taped out to 8', and has definitely started a sturgeon addiction for Jason and his girlfriend.
For anyone who reads our blog regularly, you may have noticed a change in tone. That is because Ria, who wrote our blog for many years, as well as handled our office and bookings, has decided to explore a new career option this year. That leaves me, Tamara, to take the reins. I'm not sure how I feel about that just yet - she has left me some very big shoes to fill! I'm also very new to the whole world of blogging. Let me know what it is about our blog that you like and what you would like to see me post about. More fishing reports? More photos? More stories from the river? Feedback is always appreciated.
