I have lots of bragging to do today, and I don't feel at all bad about it.
First, check us out in the 2013 Fishing issue of Outdoor Canada!
We had a great time hosting author Patrick Walsh, along with friend and fellow angler Ted Cawkwell. Pick up a copy of the magazine to see the full article.
Second, we have been nominated for the Green Excellence Award by the Agassiz-Harrison Chamber of Commerce for this year's Business Excellence Awards!
Our group of companies all do so many things to help to protect our valuable resources, and it makes us so proud to be recognized for these achievements.
We have always tried to be leaders in fishing sustainability and conservation. Our guides all volunteer with the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society's ongoing monitoring and assessment program. In fact, we are the only guiding company on the Fraser River who have full participation from all of our guides. It is such an important program, it helps us to monitor the recovery of white sturgeon, and also helps government make educated decisions on population estimates, recruitment numbers and the overall health of this amazing prehistoric fish.
Through Harrison Eco Tours, we also run guided kayaking tours and jet boat tours of the Harrison River. We strive to impress upon all of our clients the importance of protecting this beautiful river, as well as teaching river and wildlife viewing etiquette.
Our President, Tony Nootebos, sits on several committees and has involvement with multiple different conservation and advisory boards and groups, which all strive to protect the rivers and fish that we base our lives around.
The awards banquet is being held on Thursday, here in Harrison Hot Springs - Wish us luck!
