Is it September already?!?

Seriously, where has the summer gone??

It feels like only last week that we started to see beautiful, bright, sunny fish photos, and then we were counting down to salmon season, and all of a sudden...it is September!

This summer has been an interesting one. Definitely the warmest and driest that we've had for a while, which caused some ups and downs in the fishing world. Great that we got to fish in the sun all summer (no waders needed!) but on the downside, it has certainly taken a toll on the sockeye runs. It also made for some challenging days sturgeon fishing in August - it seemed that every day was different from the last, and you might see one fish...or ten fish...we just didn't know what to expect.

Our guides still worked their fishy magic, and found some beautiful fish this summer, regardless  of challenging conditions.

And then of course, we had the challenge of the salmon closures on the Fraser River. The Vedder and Harrison Rivers remained open, and we started seeing the Pinks arriving early this year.

And now, the Fraser has reopened, the rains over the past week have helped to cool the river down, and the sturgeon are getting fatter and fatter as they gorge on the delicious salmon buffet that is getting bigger and bigger each day.

We are looking forward to a very busy fall, with great salmon and sturgeon fishing opportunities.

To wrap up the fall season, we are again hosting our Harrison Sturgeon Challenge! I still have a couple of spaces left, but the boat numbers are limited, so if you are interested in coming out for a fun weekend of fishing, food and prizes, give me a call today!
