Fishing in the Rain - Day 2 of the Tournament

Day two of the Harrison Sturgeon Challenge dawned dark and dreary...and very very wet! I think the teams were all ready for a nice soak in the hot tubs after a day on the River in the heavy rains. (Just a note that the photos in this post are from day 1! )

Overall, we saw more fish caught on day 2 (41 fish landed, versus 38 on day 1) but the overall sizes were just a bit smaller.

Smallest fish of the day went to Mikkel, with a lovely little 95.5cm sturgeon.

The largest fish of the day was 200cm on the nose (no pun intended) and was caught by Thomas. This fish was followed closely by a 199cm fish!

Overall, the team with most combined CMs is still the team of Mike, Dave and Kirsten. They improved their total by 1cm, so are sitting in first place with 855cm. They are still followed by Ronnie, John and Frands, who improved on their total quite a bit and now have 786cm.

All of the teams are only separated by 206cm - or the equivalent of one fish length. Several teams made big jumps in their total scores (one team improved by over 300cm!!!) so truly, one or two big fish could change everything today!

And let's not forget what happened during both segments of the tournament last year...the winning fish was caught both times on the last afternoon. And in both cases was only 2cm larger than what ended up being the second place fish!
