2014 Harrison Sturgeon Challenge - Day 1

8am yesterday saw 11 boats with 30 anglers taking off from the Marina here at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa for day 1 of our 3rd annual Harrison Sturgeon Challenge.

Overall, it was a bit of a tough day for most - the river is much higher than normal for this time of year, allowing the fish to scatter and making them tougher to find. That didn't stop the guys from landing 44 fish in all (more than any of the days last year!) ranging in size from 77cm to 242.5cm!

The big fish of the day was landed by Patrik, and is longer than last years' winning fish!

The Big Fish - 242.5cm or 7'11"

Currently holding 2nd place is Marcus' 224cm fish - or 7'4"

Currently, the team of Patrik, Johan and Mikael are in the lead for Most Combined CMs with 738.5 followed very closely by Jan, Kenith and Mikael with 737.

Take a look at our Facebook page for more photos! (you don't need an account to view the photos!!)

I've had photos coming again today, and it's looking like another pretty varied day size-wise, though I haven't heard of anyone breaking the 8' mark needed to pull ahead of Patrik's fish.

Stay tuned for Day 2 results!
